Silhouette Blues

from Heart Shaped Rock by Abby K

/

about

This song is a tale of the feelings one has for someone at the very beginning of a relationship. It’s what I call the “intoxicating unknown”. The rush that can overtake you and consume your entire day. It is a wistful love song of what is to come; or the blues you feel when your love isn’t there.

lyrics

Been thinking for awhile
of your infectious smile
unfolding right before my eyes, a gem beneath an unturned stone

Living life's days
in your elusive way,
that strange familiar and intoxicating unknown

I got your silhouette blues
when absent it’s true
answers the little clue
just how I feel about you

Haven’t seen you for a while friend
And I’m stuck here til the bitter end
trying to figure out a possibility and way I can connect

Is it clear as it seems
dark rooms and dreams
images developed in my head, the way you affect

I got your silhouette blues
when absent it’s true
answers the little clue
just how I feel about you

We're talking like we’re really talking but not what it’s really all about
We're laughing like we’re really having fun while empty hearts just fill with doubt
when really all i wanna do is stand up scream and shout
the words all tangled up that just won’t come out.

Sincere southern comfort
those baby blues, exert
loving the feeling I get when you’re near

I mustn't prolong,
so I’ll sing you a song
reminding you of Uncle Tupelo and times we endeared

I got your silhouette blues
when absent it’s true
answers the little clue
just how I feel,
just how I feel, about you
