NEWSFEED ASPHYXIATION
Between the years 2020-21, I sighed about 100x a day. Finding oxygen felt like a real metaphor for the time. “Oxygen starvation” was plaguing our nation: Shortages of intubation equipment at hospitals, police brutality with George Floyd, and the smoke overtaking our skies due to forest fires. We had to teach ourselves to breathe again.

Ride the waves; up and down
Consume the news, that’s going around
As numbers climb, I hear the sound
Lungs filling up my heartbeat pounds

Breathe in the good for a sense of relief
Breath out the bad, bounce back from grief
Release the stress that builds up inside

And need to deflate to come down from the high

Trapped under water, consumed with despair
